EQUINE CANADA WESTERN COACHING UPDATE POLICY
(COACHES & INSTRUCTORS)
Updated as of January 01, 2009
- Required memberships for instructors and coaches (to be renewed annually):
Equine Canada Gold (at minimum) Sport License PLUS additional $20.00 Coaching Levy; OEF Membership - Ensure a current first aid certificate is on file at the OEF office
- Meet updating requirement for the National Western Coaching Program by attending an OEF Western Updating Seminar once within every three year period
- Western Coaches/Instructors can be given credit for attending update seminars in other provinces upon approval of their home province
- In Ontario, Instructors and Coaches are required to submit 18 hours of updating every 3-year period, with at least 6 hours earned from attending an OEF Western Workshop. Other hours can be earned from other seminars, clinics, OEF Conference, Judges' Updating Workshops, clinics for other disciplines, etc.
- Under extenuating circumstances, a Coach may audit a Level 1 Coach Assessment or an Instructor may audit an Instructor Assessment which could substitute for an updating seminar, but MUST BE approved by the provincial Western Coaching Committee
- When a coach/instructor does not attend an update for more than 5 years or allows their certification to lapse for more than 5 years for any reason, that coach must participate fully in either a Coach 1 Assessment or Instructor Assessment, have current First Aid and have a current EC and OEF membership to be re-certified. Effective January 1, 2000
