GOAL The object of updating is to continue developing a well-rounded, broad base of knowledge and skill.

POLICY A coach/instructor must attend a minimum of 20 hours of updating in every three year period from the date of a successful examination. The 20 hours must come from a variety of areas, but 6 of the 20 hours must be saddle seat specific. Extra hours, although beneficial for personal growth, will not be carried over.

In order to maintain certification and be considered a current EC/NCCP Instructor of Beginners, an instructor/coach must:

  • Maintain a current OEF membership
  • Maintain a current EC Sport License (Gold, minimum) and pay the annual $20.00 coaching level
  • Keep proof of a current First Aid certificate on file with his/her province
  • Attend a minimum of 20 hours of professional development every 3 years and provide proof to the OEF. (The instructor/coach is responsible for sending a copy of updating hours to the OEF. Records must be signed by the clinician.)
  • The Coach will be listed as “Inactive” if any updating requirements are outstanding.
    • Check with your provincial office regarding the start date of updating requirements.
