9th Annual “Celebration of Horses” Photo Contest

SIDNEY, BC — Share the photos of your beloved equines in the “Celebration of Horses” Photo Contest. A reader favourite, this annual photo contest is the opportunity to help us showcase Canada’s beautiful foals and favourite horses.
With five categories and prizes to third place, there are plenty of opportunities to win! Winning photos and runners-up will be published in the November-December 2009 issue of Canadian Horse Journal.
The categories are:
Category #1: Stable Stork
1A: Foals of 2009
1B: Mare and Foal
Category #2: All Things Equine
2A: The Love of Horses — depicting the human-horse bond
2B: Horses in Action — working photos, winter scenes
2C: Personality and Humour — showing your horses “character”

CONTEST GUIDELINES
Photos will be judged on artistic and technical merit. Photos should be clear (in focus) and well-lit. Good quality photos improve your chances of winning. No unsafe situations should be depicted. Please include the age, sex, and breed of horse, and name, address, and telephone number of both owner and photographer. Other information about the horse is most welcome.
CONTEST RULES
1. Amateur photographers only. A maximum of three previously unpublished photos per category.
2. Send colour prints, unmounted and unmated (max size 8” x 10”). If retaining the original print, send us a good quality reprint (no inkjets please). Digital photos submitted as prints should be printed on photographic paper.
3. To submit digital files, please indicate “Celebration Photo Contest” in the subject line and email to news@horsejournals.com. Digital photos must be large size and high resolution (unaltered original files are best). Be sure to include in your email the information requested in the Guidelines.
4. Photos will become the property of Canadian Horse Journal and will not be returned. Entrants consent to have their submission published in Canadian Horse Journal and on our website site at www.horsejournals.com and elsewhere as determined by the publisher.
5. Winners will be selected by judges chosen by this publication. Prizes must be accepted as awarded and are not redeemable for cash.
