The Society was first established in 1975 to promote the association of people with an interest in vintage vehicles and pleasure driving. The Society was incorporated in 1977. It is a chapter of the Carriage Association of America. Currently it has a link to Drive Ontario, which is a consortium of Ontario Carriage Driving Clubs. The Society is also a member of the Ontario Equestrian Federation Associations Advisory Council. A board of Directors representing 80 members, the majority of whom reside in Eastern Ontario, manages it. A number of drivers belong to Drive Canada.

The Ontario Rodeo Association (O.R.A.) was formed in 1957 at the Bar 11 Ranch, just outside Dundas, Ontario. It was formed to promote rodeo in Ontario and produce a standard set of rules to be followed by the rodeo cowboys and producers as well as a set of rules to protect the stock used in rodeos from inhumane treatment. The ORA works with the Roping Association of Ontario and the Ontario High School Rodeo Association, creating a natural progression for the athletes climbing the ranks. Currently, the seven standard events are Saddle Bronc Riding, Bareback Bronc Riding, Bull Riding, Tie-down Roping, Steer Wrestling, Team Roping, and Ladies Barrel Racing. Optional events include Breakaway Roping, Junior Steer Riding, and Junior Barrels.
